Terms and Conditions: Thumbs Up Photography – Lofoten Workshop 2027

These Terms and Conditions apply to the Lofotoshop Workshop held from 11th to 17th February 2027. By booking this workshop and paying your deposit, you agree to the following terms.

1. Booking and Payments

  • Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of £300.00 is required at the time of booking to secure your place.

  • Grace Period: There is a grace period of 14 days from the date of booking during which you may cancel and receive a full refund of your deposit.

  • Balance Payment: The remaining balance of £2,500.00 must be paid in full no later than 12 weeks before the trip begins (on or before 19th November 2026) via bank transfer. We will contact you to arrange this.

  • Failure to Pay: If the balance is not received by the due date, we reserve the right to treat your booking as cancelled and retain your deposit.

2. Cancellations and Refunds

  • Client Cancellation: Any cancellation must be made in writing or by email. If cancelled within the 14-day grace period, a full refund applies. Outside of this period, the deposit remains non-refundable. If the full balance has been paid, a refund (minus the deposit) will only be issued at our discretion or if we are able to fill your place.

  • Organiser Cancellation: Thumbs Up Photography reserves the right to cancel the workshop due to force majeure (unusual/unforeseeable circumstances such as (but not limited to) fire, flood, or extreme weather) or under-booking. In such cases, a full refund of the workshop fee will be issued.

  • Liability for External Costs: We accept no responsibility for flights, insurance, or other independent travel arrangements made by the client. These costs will not be refunded by Thumbs Up Photography in the event of a workshop cancellation.

3. Travel and Photography Risks

  • Weather and Aurora: Photography workshops are highly susceptible to weather. The itinerary provided is an indication of planned locations and not a contractual obligation. No refunds will be given due to a lack of snowfall or the non-appearance of the Aurora Borealis.

  • Extenuating Circumstances: Thumbs Up Photography accepts no liability for clients unable to attend due to illness, flight cancellations, family emergencies, or other personal circumstances. It is the client's responsibility to ensure they have appropriate insurance to cover these scenarios.

4. Insurance and Personal Responsibility

  • Medical and Travel Insurance: It is your sole responsibility to ensure you have adequate insurance for medical risks, rescue, and repatriation. This is essential for a winter workshop in the Arctic Circle.

  • Equipment and Belongings: All personal belongings and camera equipment remain your sole responsibility at all times. You must ensure your gear is adequately insured against accidental damage, loss, or theft.

  • Safety and Conduct: It is the responsibility of the client to follow instructions and advice given by the workshop leaders. Should you choose a route or location independently, or move away from the proximity of the leaders (beyond eyesight or earshot), you do so at your own risk and are deemed to be outside the scope of the workshop.

5. Transport and Local Regulations

In accordance with Norwegian laws and regulations, Thumbs Up Photography is unable to charge for transportation. All transport, including airport pick-up/drop-off at Leknes and travel to photographic locations, is provided as a complimentary service and is not included in the workshop price.

6. Liability and Jurisdiction

Thumbs Up Photography does not accept liability for death, bodily injury, or illness unless arising from a negligent act or omission by our team. We do not accept liability for any loss or additional expense caused by delays or interruptions to travel services (e.g., strikes, weather, or civil disturbance). Any claims shall be subject to English Law, and all proceedings shall be within the exclusive domain of the English Courts.
