Our champion is!… Anglesey Meet Up Photo Challenge and an announCEment!
What an incredible time we had at our recent Thumbs Up Photography meet-up at the stunning Llanddwyn Island in Anglesey! We were faced with scorching hot weather and bright, cloudless blue skies – conditions that are notoriously difficult and not usually conducive to landscape photography. Despite the harsh light, the company was fantastic and the scenery was simply breathtaking.
To add a spark of creative pressure, we held a little photography challenge. This was more than just a bit of fun; it was an exercise in thinking differently. Each member drew a specific photographic challenge from a hat and had just one hour to capture their shot. The tasks ranged from shooting only long exposures, to focusing solely on textures, to finding compelling archways. Tackling these tasks was made even trickier by the challenging conditions!
The standard of entries was incredibly high, making the decision-making process tough for us! After much discussion, we are thrilled to announce that the winner of the Anglesey Photo Challenge is…
Mariusz Hajduk!
Mariusz drew an incredibly difficult challenge: "only shoot 1 shot". The pressure to get everything right in just a single frame, especially in harsh weather, is immense, and he absolutely nailed it!

His ability to overcome the bright conditions and produce this shot is a testament to his skill. We all loved the composition. A beautifully composed coastal scene, where delicate foreground flowers perfectly frame and lead the eye into the serene bay and iconic lighthouse, creating a wonderful sense of depth under soft, golden light.
